My family and I have gotten very good care at this hospital. The staff was very professional and competent each time we have needed hospital care in Bennington.
My wife arrived there by ambulance with acute back pain and muscle spasms. The pain was so severe should could not even walk. They took her in and administered drugs and then tried to x-ray her but she was in too much pain. After several hours they were able to get an x-ray and said they could not see anything wrong. She was given prescriptions for pain and muscle relaxer and sent home after 8 hours in emerg. During all this time, they did not believe the severity of her pain and even went so far as to infer that I was abusing her. They deduced that I was an "angry man" just by looking at my very normal facial expression. We moved on to Knoxville where she saw an Orthopaedic specialist who found that she has pinched nerves in her lower back due to mild disc bulging on 5 vertebrae. She was then given proper medical treatment and is now recovering. The Vermont facility should have seen this and treated it accordingly at the time.
All of the nurses are great there! Some of the drs are too. But when it comes down to something severe some drs just don't give compassion at all. I had one tell me oh ur here all the time. Yea I was here 3 times in one week because my head felt like it was going to explode and guess what? No one ever did any testing and come to find out it was meningitis....now I'm back with the same probs and I haven't had any relief and no help. But my concern in the right side pain I've been having and it's traveling farther and every time I eat it gets worse but no one can seem to find out what's wrong. Dr Cohen is a great Dr and all the nurses are very caring. So they would have the 5 stars but the other drs make it hard. :(
Visiting from Texas, I had to use the ER at 5:00 am on a Sunday morning. The staff was incredibly nice, competent, efficient and professional. I was seen immediately. Great service from all of the staff.
The emergency department gets 5 stars. They are amazing! I had to spend a number of days there once and I couldn't have been treated better. The "express care center" is not so good. I waited 3 hours to be seen one time and when finally seen I was seen by a nurse only. Don't go to express care.
